Rising up from the meandering bayous and the lush sugar cane fields of Acadiana, the sounds of Louisiana have once again found their way to its muse. This time through the most organic of ensembles, Sweet Cecilia. Daughters (and niece) of the late Grammy nominated and celebrated musician Al Berard, Sweet Cecilia’s musical influences of Louisiana Roots, Americana, Folk, Country, Cajun and Rock are seemingly inevitable and joyously apparent. Having sung together since childhood, sisters Laura Huval, Maegan Berard, and first cousin Callie Guidry will capture you with their gifted harmonies and their true to life songwriting. In ode to their hometown and the patron Saint of Musicians, St. Cecilia, Sweet Cecilia officially formed in the fall of 2011, recorded and released their debut self titled CD in February of 2015. Their debut album “Sweet Cecilia” was named one of the top 50 in OffBEAT Magazine. They have already recorded with Grammy nominated Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, country singer Blaine Roy, original hard country band Double Wide and featured on Bonsoir Catin’s Grammy nominated album “Light the Stars”.
Their passion and love for each other, music and their family roots are the spirited driving force in this homegrown talented trio. They have performed at Festival International de Louisiane which has become famous as a premier presenter of some of the most unique world musicians and performances in the United States, Festival Acadiens et Creole, the renowned Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, Festival International, the French Quarter Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and many other festivals and venues.
